We will be screening Patong Girl an award winning romantic, adventure-drama produced by Tom Waller. A German family is spending their holidays in Phuket where the youngest son Felix falls in love with a gorgeous Thai girl Fai who in return is attracted to him. Fai holds a special secret. Following a sorrowful last goodbye to Fai at the end of his holiday, Felix decides while en-route to the airport, to follow the calling in his heart and stay a week longer. Followed by Q&A by producer Tom Waller (and possibly some of the crew / actors). Tickets at the door 250Baht, incl welcome house drink. A special event in both the entertainment and emotional calendars of Australians and New Zealanders is ANZAC Day 25th of April. Checklinn99 will host a Dusk Music Salute from 8pm (small film and slide show from 7pm). The evening is special, very special. We will host a service of remembrance.. accompanied by a piper from the British Club Pipe Band. The Ode will be read at about 8pm. Checkinn99 will be serving the traditional drink of the day - Gun barrel Coffee (Bundaberg Rum with anything) 99B. then Music of the Heart will perform a special line up of down-under classic rock. The night is great for any nationality as it is a time to reflect.
Its time again to say thank you to our wonderful staff and MOTH band... we will be closed TWO NIGHTS this Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st for our annual staff resort holiday. This time we will be going to Kanchanburi to relax on the river... sort of like an boozy eco-holiday without the eco. Open again Friday 23April
A special screening of BUTTERFLY MAN, an award winning Thai-British adventure-romantic drama film produced by Tom Waller. Adam, an English backpacker, breaks up with his girlfriend immediately after arriving with her in Thailand. Meanwhile, the ugly side of Samui starts to reveal itself, with a white slavery and prostitution ring, run by Mafia exposed.Followed by reminiscences from writer/director Kaprice Kea and producer Tom Waller. BOTH NIGHTS SOLD OUT 24 and 25 March - 2 performances of THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES by Eve Ensler performed by Bangkok Rising - a thought provoking and highly controversial theatre production about women & girls around the globe. You will laugh, you will cry, oooh and aaah. Doors open at 6pm. Show starts at 7pm.
